ABOUT HEXHAM

With one of the world’s most outstanding Abbeys, Hexham is an attractive and ancient market town with an unbelievable historic past. Home to numbers of roman forts, it is a popular base for millions of people who explore the historical landmarks including the infamous Hadrian’s wall. Sacked on several occasions by The Vikings; William Wallace and Robert The Bruce, the list of things to do on a weekend to Hexham is never ending.

Boasting full closed roads, The Hexham Half Marathon is a 13.1 challenge that takes place every July. Starting and finishing just on the outskirts of the town. The loop considers the historical market town itself passing the unbelievable Hexham Abbey. Could you take down “Hexham’s Heartbreak Hill” – a real challenge in itself. Its an event that aims to truly represent the people of Northumberland and celebrate our beautiful County.
